Smoothies are way too high in sugar.
Metabolism is raised by eating enough protein, not loading up on lots of junk, fruit, sugar, etc.

Depending on the smoothie you could be consuming way to many colories. Most smoothies have way to much sweetners and not enough actual fruit.
Try eating real fruit when you need to eat. Drinking green tea is a great way to increase your metabolism and it helps keep the hunger pains away.

The other answerers are right, but, if you like smoothies, you can mitigate some of the bad effects of sugar by making them yourself.

For example: blend together fat free yogurt, skim milk, and a banana and/or some strawberries and/or some blueberries. Even better, thin out the smoothie by adding a lot of crushed ice, which has zero calories.

Make sure the fruit you use is *real* and fresh, or, if frozen, has no sugar added.
