I have read that adding a scoop of protein powder to my morning smoothie is a very good way to lose weight, but everytime I go to buy the powder they are all geared for body builders. So I was wondering what was the best kind of protein powder to buy specifiaclly — or beneficially — for weight loss?

    FYI, portion control (smaller plate size) and regular (nutritious) meals will shed weight – increases metabolism. Starvation dieting and varying eating habits they’ve found has the opposite affect, the body stores fat automatically, ‘thinking’ it won’t get fed regularly.

    Protein is intended to help build lean muscle mass, so no kidding it’s all geared for men who are weight lifting. Doesn’t mean anything. Protein is protein. Who cares if there is a buff man on the package?

    The reason why some people say adding a scoop of protein to your smoothie helps wit weight loss is that it may (key word MAY) help you stay fuller, longer. It does absolutely nothing else. Protein does not as a whole help people lose weight. If you are doing just fine losing weight and you aren’t having troubles with getting hungry, then I wouldn’t suggest buying any protein powder. I must admit a lot of them taste disgusting and ass a very odd texture to smoothies and shakes.

    You want a normal protein, not whey or soy. So as long as the package doesn’t say soy or whey you are fine. All protein is the same, regardless of what is on the package.

    The best protein power is egg protein powder. Take it with a low acid juice. There are other foods which you should eat to increase your metabolism. There are foods you should not eat too.
