Question by Luis: What can I do to increase my metabolism?
I have a rather healthy diet:

– 2 or 3 pieces of fruit day
– All the protein I can
– I try to eat as less calories as possible

I would like to lose weight and increasing metabolism is a good way of achieving this aim.
I practise sport (football) 4 times a week

So.. what else can I do?

Eating less calories is not really the key! The key is to eat the RIGHT calories. Fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, lots of water and nuts are the best way to force your body into growth and boost your metabolism. Plenty of beans, lentils and all kind of legumes are excellent source of lean protein. Avoid sugars and “empty” calories. Cardio workouts every other days is a great way to boost your metabolism as well but keep it under 20 minutes. After 20 min, your body starts to burn muscle. Avoid energy drinks (and any caffeinated beverages), soda pop, those diet drinks are killers and anything with partially/totally hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup and GMO’s. Keep an eye on the quality of food you are eating more than the quantity. Eat ALL THE SALAD you can eat and instead of store bought salad dressing, put some extra virgin olive oil (cold pressed), squeeze lime or lemon juice and a sprinkle of salt instead.
