Question by James: What are some legitimate ways to boost/raise metabolism?
I’m attempting to drop about 15 pounds and get back into the sort of shape I was when I played football. I’ve been working out regularly and trying to eat right/better, but I feel like I’ve plateaued right here. I know that I’ve always had issues maintaining weight regardless of how I eat/live, so I feel as though it’s my metabolism. I mean, I’m no fitness expert, but it makes sense to me, so any thoughts forum?

Some people say that if you drink very cold water, your body burns extra calories simply by working to raise it to body temperature once it is inside you. I don’t know if that’s true.

Giving your body a moderate but steady supply of fuel is supposed to help. Experts say that eating several smaller meals throughout the day will help to improve your metabolic rate, keep your blood sugar level from rising and falling drastically, and lower your cholesterol.

Muscles burn more calories. You can try walking 30-60 minutes every day. It worked for me! I have never been able to tolerate running, but walking has been extremely effective. I’ve often heard that swimming really burns calories well.

You can increase your lean muscle mass, which will help to improve metabolism, by lifting weights. You do not have to go to a gym. Fill empty gallon-sized milk jugs with water, and lift them as weights. Empty laundry detergent bottles work well too.
