Question by Hayley Langley: How can a 15 year old girl lose weight?
I didn’t do anything for sports this year because I didn’t find anything at my school enjoyable. I did sign up for zumba for an hour once a week, but I don’t think that is going to cut it. I know weight loss is also about eating habits and I have been working on that too, but I was wondering if there was anything I could do that was somewhat interesting to help me lose weight.

Any tips and or tricks anyone?

It all depends on what your goals are. If weight loss is your goal then a simple lo-carb, hi-protein, lo-fat diet will help. that kind of diet would consist of carbohydrates like brown rice and whole grain breads, yams, proteins like chicken, and eggs (very high in protein). You would want to maintain fat intake so as to not put your body into starvation mode, so good fats like peanut butter (in proportion) and almond (most nuts actually) will do. Your vegetable and fruit intake should be relatively high as well. the greener the vegie the healthier it is for you immune system and digestive system. Fruits have a natural mono-sacharide in them (sugar) so they will give you energy. DO NOT EAT PROCESSED SUGAR. this undermines everything you are trying to do, NO WHITE BREAD, an enzyme known as amylase begins breaking bread down into sugar before it even reaches your stomach… Rember to eat breakfast, its exxtremely important in jump starting your metabolism, which is what makes you lose wieght…A small tip, drink a glass of ICE cold water as soon as you wake up, this forces you body into warming itself up, causing you to work as soon as you get out of bed. Another tip, eat a long lasting protein before going to bed like natural yogurt or a protein shake.

WORKOUTS- muscle building gives you LONGTERM results…if you are just trying to burn fat at that instant, get on a cardio machine, go for a run, anything to get your heat rate up….However, if you want to burn Carbs and Fat all day your going to need to incorporate some type of wieght lifting, pushups, pullups if you can. even resistance bands. The reason this burns fat all day is because you body is working to repair itself all day…also if you workout is intense enough you can actually eat more and not gain weight…
