Question by : Is this a healthy diet for weight loss?
Ok so today I ate:

Breakfast: Cheerios with skimmed milk
Morning snack: Apple with Mineral water
Lunch: Fruit Salad containing Orange, Lemons, Grapes with a glass of Orange Cordial.
Afternoon Snack: A fat free Yogurt with water.
Dinner: Vegetable soup with a Glass of Fruit Juice.

Is this an ok diet for weight loss? and any suggestions on how to Improve it? Thanks.

    Your name suggests that you’re a man. Men need a lot of calories. This diet is not even enough for an old woman.
    You do not lose weight by eating a low calorie diet. You will just force your body to lower your metabolism and adapt to lower caloric requirements…then you’ll get fat just eating normally again.
    You lose weight by eating enough and then exercising for 3,500 calories for each pound of fat reserves that you need to lose.

    Men: BMR = 66 + ( 6.23 x weight in pounds ) + ( 12.7 x height in inches ) – ( 6.8 x age in year )
    Women: BMR = 655 + ( 4.35 x weight in pounds ) + ( 4.7 x height in inches ) – ( 4.7 x age in years )

    The diet you are on will lead to WEIGHT loss since it is very restrictive. Unfortunately you will also lose muscle and water weight and once you return to a more maintainable caloric intake you will also gain back the fat. If you want permanent FAT loss please read on.

    First off. A few guidelines

    1) Take in some protein with every meal (pulses, kidney beans, skimmed yogurt, fat-free milk, tofu, almonds, peanuts, cashews etc. Don’t worry about the fats in nuts. They are healthy mono-unsaturated fats and will keep you full). Protein will create a feeling of satiety, stop your body from using muscle tissue for energy, prevent blood sugar swings.
    2) Breakfast should be heavy and nutritious. Consider replacing Cheerios with old-fashioned Quaker oats.
    3) Limit carbohydrates (rice, fruits etc) at night (unless you exercise at night)
    4) Vegetables (preferably boiled or sauted lightly with a healthy oil like olive oil) is a better option than fruit if you are looking to get ripped fast. if you have fruits try to limit them to breakfast.
    5) Fruit juice is to be avoided since the sugar content is too high and useful fiber gets thrown away. Stick to whole fruits instead. Eliminate sugary substances from your diet.
    6) The only beverage you should be drinking is sugar-free green tea and H2O.

    I hope you can modify your diet with the above guidelines in mind. Eat only when hungry and stop eating as soon as you feel decently full. It takes 20 minutes for the body to realize it has had its full. A caveat: hunger is a good indicator of when to eat but you should not stay hungry for long periods. That teaches your body to hoard fat for “starvation” periods.

    In conclusion eat small meals through the day like you are doing, have protein with every meal, concentrate on wholesome natural foods and get stronger and healthier and yes leaner.

    Definatly not enough, and you’re lacking in some essential foogroups!
    – Add a peice of fruit into you’re cearel (ex: 1/2 cup of berries, medium banana, 1/4 cup dried fruit- raisins, crandberries, etc..)

    – Skip the fruit salad, make a wholegrain sandwhich with lean meat or – meat alternative (hummus/ peanut butter/ quorn)
    *2 slices wholegrain/ wheat bread or wholewheat wrap/ pita.
    *2–slices lean deli meat (turkey, chicken, ham, roast beef, etc..) or 2 tbsp hummus/ or 1-2 tbsp peanut butter
    * vegetable condiments (lettuce, tomatoe, onion, etc..) – If making peanut butter use 1/4 cup raisins and, or 1 small chopped banana.
    * 1-2 tbsp deli mustard
    * 1 slices cheese (non procsessed pref.)
    – With a glass of skimmed milk/ orange cardinal

    Soup is not a great dinner.. it’s more of a lunch, and it’s not really that filling and nutrient oriented since you’re main lacking point right now is ‘protein’.
    Try having 3-4oz grilled chicken/ salmon with 1/2 cup brown rice, a serving of vegetables (3/4 cup) and 1 cup of skimmed milk.

    – It may be a good idea to include a snack afterdinner since you’re even lacking in calories for “healthy” weightloss.
    * an apple/ celery sticks with tbsp peanut butter
    * cottage cheese with added berries
    * trail mix
    * bran/ fiber granola bar
    * etc..

    I have been through it all and know what’s it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can’t be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I’ve worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.

    Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.

    First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can’t eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising…

    This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it’s good for the heart.

    However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It’s so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I’ve found a great addition to help any one out, it’s a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don’t get all crazy on me and say diet pills don’t work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn’t meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It’s an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at theweightlossplace dot com along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it’s the best pill I’ve tried and I’ve tried cupboards full. Now this doesn’t mean you have to follow my foot steps but I’ve successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.
