    to lose weight you would then have to minus 500 ( = 1602) to lose 1 lb a week or minus 1000 (= 1102) to lose 2 lbs a week. but to avoid starvation mode where your body stops losing weight & just plateaus you should never go below 1200 calories (for women). & always eat at least 60 grams of protein aday when dieting!

    I used to think that I burned 10 calories per pound but I was wrong. By about 500 calories. I found out that was an incorrect calculation when I got a BodyBugg.     The formula is incorrect. In the example given, it says a woman generally burns 10 calories for every pound of body weight.

    What if the woman is 160 pounds of muscle? What if she’s 110 pounds of muscle and 50 pounds of fat? These two possibilities would both equal 160 pounds, but she would NOT burn 10 calories for every pound of FAT!
