Question by christy j: I have six weeks of inactivity after a surgical procedure coming up. How can I continue my weight loss ?
I will be able to do nothing at all for two weeks. Following that, no cardio for six to eight weeks. How to ensure continued weight loss?

By nothing, do you mean you will be in bed, immobilized? If so, I’d watch my caloric intake only in as much as making sure every bite of food was packed with nutrition and “meaningful” calories. For example, a chicken soup with loads of veggies, an omelet with veggies, fruit and cottage cheese, real oatmeal with cinnamon, steamed, grilled or baked fish, chicken and light veggies, fruit salads, etc.

Isometric exercises are a fantastic way to keep building muscle mass while you are relatively immobilized. For example, contracting your biceps a few times to the maximum contraction you can hold can help build or at least maintain muscle mass, which boosts your metabolic rate and helps you trim down.

The Miracle Seven is a good starter book, if you want to check it out. My oldest son went to South America for a month and was able to continue building his upper body following it (of course, he already is a lean and mean 16 year old!)
